Before joining the University of Nottingham in Ningbo China, Dr. Shabnam was employed as a lecturer at Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) in Hamilton, New Zealand. She taught a range of different business modules such as Consumer Behaviour, Management (people and change), Project Management, Applied Research and Applied Management. Her responsibilities included developing course material, giving lectures, providing support and feedback to students as well as administrative tasks (student communication and course management) via Moodle. Additionally, Dr. Shabnam supervised students in their research projects for the degrees in Post-Graduate Diploma and Bachelor of Applied Management. Prior to joining Wintec, she was involved in teaching and tutoring a variety of topics at Business School as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at University of Otago. Towards, the end of her PhD she taught Summer School papers, Also, in numerous occasions she was invited as the external referee for Business and Tourism students’ final presentations at Otago Polytechnic. Her doctoral thesis covers a range of topics including management, marketing, consumer behaviour, and sustainability with a glance at migration and tourism.
Apart from her academic career, her industry experience also contributes to my teaching in bringing practical examples and real-world cases to classrooms. Most recently, she worked as a Marketing Coordinator at the International Office, University of Otago, which is responsible for recruiting international students. She was in charge of digital marketing, designing and running campaigns, market research, and evaluating students’ experience and satisfaction. Also, prior to joining Otago as a PhD candidate, she worked as a Marketing executive and Human Resource Assistant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
