个人简介
I have been teaching in China since 1999, firstly at Dalian University of Foreign Languages from 1999-2005 where I worked in the Continuing Education Program teaching Oral English and later at Dongbei Finance and Economics University where in addition to teaching I held the administrative post of Liaison for Foreign Staff, the first non-Chinese to hold an administrative position in that university. I started in 2008 as an EAP tutor in The University of Nottingham Ningbo China’s Centre for English Language Education (CELE). I have been an assistant to the Senior Tutor for Oral Communication Studies and worked on the department’s Curriculum Committee where I helped develop and refine CELE curriculum and assessments. In addition to my EAP teaching duties, I am one of CELE’s Student Engagement Officers where I support student well-being and help in transitioning to university life at an English medium university. I also co-convene the Preliminary Year Learning Community Forum (LCF) which provides students and tutors an opportunity to regularly discuss student suggestions and issues. In addition, I work in the Writing Lab which offers activities to strengthen students’ Academic English and study skills. I advise students one-on-one and in small groups, coach students helping them plan their studies, give workshops and develop materials and resources. I also co-lead the Dignity at Nottingham Network (DANN), a support group for staff and am a member of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee as well as the EDI liaison for CELE. In addition to my time in China, I spent seven years teaching ESL in Spain and three years teaching English and Spanish in the United States. I am particularly interested in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), motivation, equity diversity and inclusion issues in education and mentoring and coaching and well-being. My personal interests include travelling, cooking and philosophy.
