Principles for Direct Entry 2012 of UNNC
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China, will abide by the following principles for student recruitment for the 2012-13 academic year.
A. The Plan for Each Degree
In the 2012-13 academic year The University of Nottingham Ningbo China has fifteen undergraduate programmes available for Direct Entry Scheme. Direct Entry is for applicants from Zhejiang province only.
The DE Scheme will recruit 50 students with approximately the following distribution across the divisions of the university.

B. The Application Process
I) Applicants of the Direct Entry should be the first category students. The University decides which degrees to run and specifies the recruitment plan.
II) Students who possess the qualifications listed below must complete and submit the "2012 Undergraduate Direct Entry Application Form". This form can be downloaded at http://www.nottingham.edu.cn/..
III) The applicants should submit a personal statement in English to discuss their qualifications, their reasons for applying, and to explain why they wish to study a particular degree. They should also provide their transcript of the provincial test, photo copies of ID card and Household Register, together with the original and photocopies of any certificates for awards, works and essays. In addition, three two-inch passport photos should be provided.
IV) Application Fee: RMB 110/person. For details, please refer to the "2012 Undergraduate Direct Entry Application Form".
C. The Admission Process
I) In the 2012 admissions round, the Direct Entry Scheme will be based on the "Direct Entry Tests plus Gaokao scores", which means those who reach the first division line in Gaokao will have the opportunity to be admitted subject to their performance in the Direct Entry Tests.
II) The University Admissions Committee will examine each application and decide which applicants should be invited to the University for examination and interview.
III) The Direct Entry Test, organised by The University of Nottingham Ningbo China on June 11th, 2012; assesses students' ability in English and critical thinking. On the afternoon of June 9th and 10th, applicants should come to UNNC to collect their exam licenses and sign agreements of DE.
IV) The Admission Process:

Applicants should obtain the first division line in Gaokao.

Applicants will be admitted according to their performance in Direct Entry Tests.

If applicants get the same scores in Direct Entry Tests, then their English scores, scores for general arts and sciences in Gaokao should be referred to.
V) The University of Nottingham Ningbo China will send a formal offer letter to the applicants after the name list is finalised.
VI) Once the applicant is accepted by The University of Nottingham Ningbo China, he/she must not accept an offer by any other educational institution according to the agreements they signed.
D. The Application Deadline and the Test Schedule
The deadline for applications is 31 May 2012. The written test and interviews will be held on 11 June 2012.
E. The Qualifications for Direct Entry Admission
Essential Qualifications:
All applicants of the Direct Entry should be the first category students. They should achieve at least seven grade As in the graduation exam for senior high school, and all other results should be at least grade B. Students can have one A to compensate one C (Chinese, Mathematics, English excluded) if he/she has 8 As or above. Mathematics must be A if students want to apply for engineering and computer courses. The ten subjects to be considered are: Chinese, English, Mathematics, Politics, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Information Technology.
F. Tuition and Accommodation Fees
The fees for Direct Entry and Gaokao entry students are the same: Tuition fee: 60,000 RMB per year, Accommodation: 2,000RMB per year, Books: 2,500RMB per year.
G. Scholarships
The top five students in the Direct Entry Tests will be awarded RMB10,000 per person as scholarships for one year.
