In August, the 2025 EMI (English-Medium Instruction) Teacher Professional Development Programme for Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, hosted by the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, concluded successfully. The two-weekend training gathered 31 teachers from Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. Focused on innovative teaching models, it integrated TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) professional characteristics with an international perspective, helping teachers comprehensively enhance their EMI capabilities and promoting TCM education onto the global stage.
The programme, with "practicality, innovation and foresight" as its core, covered 18 specialized modules, building a complete system for improving EMI competence. It helped teachers clarify teaching logic, fundamentally understand the connotation and rules of EMI, and achieve seamless integration of professional knowledge and language teaching.
Meanwhile, the programme incorporated multiple cutting-edge teaching concepts and tools. It broke away from traditional teaching models, teaching teachers how to design highly interactive classroom activities that cater to students of different levels. AI-supported teaching allowed teachers to intuitively feel the infinite possibilities of technology empowering education, injecting new vitality into traditional classrooms.
Notably, the training programme innovatively included distinctive courses such as mindfulness practice and coaching guidance skills. These helped teachers adjust their physical and mental states under high-pressure teaching, better inspiring students' potential. They not only enhanced teachers' self-awareness but also made them realize the importance of "emotional connection" in teaching.
