On 10 December, the "Youth & Science Dream-Building" outreach event, co-organised by the UNNC Faculty of Science and Engineering Student Association (SESA) and the Xianxiang Town Youth League Committee, was successfully held at Xianxiang Town Central School. Marking the launch of the “Wisdom Bay” outreach series, this initiative created a meaningful bridge between university resources and local educational needs, bringing engaging science experiences directly to young students.
During the event, SESA volunteers designed and presented a series of interactive experiments such as “Handheld Flame,” “Helium Voice,” and “Golden Rain,” transforming abstract scientific principles into vivid and memorable demonstrations. Through lively explanations and safe, hands-on guidance, volunteers helped make complex concepts accessible and exciting for the students.
The outreach also featured immersive workshops including “Lacquer Fan Art” and “Electrostatic Floating Bubbles,” where about 80 seventh graders formed small groups to explore, create, and ask questions. Patient guidance from our student volunteers encouraged curiosity and active participation, fostering a dynamic and enthusiastic learning atmosphere throughout the day.
As an outcome of this collaboration, UNNC and Xianxiang Town Central School have formally established a long-term partnership for future science outreach and social practice activities. Moving forward, SESA will continue to deepen university-community cooperation, regularly organising diverse and content-rich science programmes to inspire more young learners.
This event also reflects our commitment as a university without borders to share knowledge, nurture curiosity, and contribute to our community. Together with local partners, we look forward to continuing to empower the next generation with the wonder of science and the spirit of exploration.
