The TESOLPRO Teacher Training Programme was designed in response to the trend of local education system's pursuit of higher English teaching level in the international environment. The programme takes full advantage of the English teaching environment and strong global teaching force at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, combined with the influence of Global English Education China Assembly in the Chinese English teaching community. The programme aims at raising the international level of education and teaching of Chinese English teachers, promoting the development of full English teaching skills, and helping to apply cutting-edge global educational practical experience in practice to the local Chinese educational environment.

In order to provide a better learning experience, participants were divided into two classes depending on their teaching context. The small class size teaching approach controls the number of trainees in each class to ensure personalised, quality teaching and learning, and also helps English teachers from similar backgrounds to share and interact with each other. In addition, the teaching team adheres to the teaching philosophy of tailoring the content of the course to the trainees’ needs, so that the trainees can more fully understand and digest the content to truly benefit their practical teaching.

The programme covers a wide variety of topics, such as Drama Techniques, Teaching Large Classes, Presentation Skills, the Reflective Teacher and Motivation in Practice, keeping up with national and international trends in education and research, effectively helping trainees to receive cutting-edge knowledge of teaching theory and to master practical teaching skills.

The training courses are specially designed and highly interactive. During the course, the tutors’ passionate teaching sessions enabled the trainees to become more engaged in discussions and group activities relevant to their own teaching backgrounds. This opportunity to interact with peers from the same field helped them to expand their thinking and enhance their teaching skills in different ways.

During the programme, the trainees also participated in an art and cultural experience trip. By visiting the art museum and attending the Ebru painting course, the participants were able to dissipate their fatigue after intense study, enjoy the local culture in Ningbo, and experience cross-cultural communication with the educators in the art education industry.

For our trainees, it was a happy and valuable experience to return to school and re-immerse themselves in the process of learning and improvement. During the TESOLPRO Teacher Training Programme, all the trainees who successfully completed the training courses obtain the certificate issued by UNNC and the Global English Education China Assembly. The certificate represents the participants' learning and growth over this period of time, as well as their own pursuit of challenges and progress. Equipped with all the training gains including the deepening understanding, upgraded mindset and practical techniques of the English teaching, they will confidently face the future, reach further and higher.
