UNNC International Curriculum and Research Learning Class from 15 July to 26 July, was a continuation of our collaboration with the University of Nottingham Ningbo Affiliated High School (AHS), co-taught by UNNC and AHS teachers. This programme reached 98 students who will be entering their first year of high school in September, providing them with a taste of higher education, and specifically the British education system.
The first week of this course, taught by UNNC teachers, was dedicated to improving their English, with a strong emphasis on communicative language teaching, and improving general academic and study skills, with some special interest topics including personal environmental impact, employability, vocabulary learning strategies and time management. The second week was delivered by AHS teachers at UNNC, covering core high school subjects such as math, physics, chemistry, economics and English.
It provides an immersive English learning environment for incoming international students of the affiliated high school, enhancing both their language proficiency and overall learning abilities while offering an early taste of vibrant university life. Through meticulously-designed IELTS courses, engaging study skills workshops, and a variety of extracurricular activities, students not only made significant progress in their English language skills but also experienced comprehensive growth in teamwork and leadership, laying a strong foundation for their future academic journeys.
We have had great feedback from the students, and hope that they’ve been inspired to aim higher as they start their next chapter at our Affiliated High School.
