Entry requirements

Course requirements:

2:1 level or above (or international equivalent) in an appropriate subject. For mainland Chinese applicants, the minimum average score is 80 if you graduate from a domestic university of Project 985, 211 or double first-rate. The minimum average score is 85 if otherwise.

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in any element)
  • PTE Academic 65 (minimum 59)
  • TOEFL (IBT) 80 (minimum 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading and 20 in Speaking)

Course overview

This degree reflects the research of the School in scheduling and optimisation, foundations of programming, artificial intelligence, modelling and simulation, computer vision and machine learning, in which areas the School has world-leading expertise. In addition to the traditional 120-credit taught courses, an enhanced 60-credit research project followed by an enhanced 60-credit dissertation will give students systematic research training and enable them to perform a significant piece of cutting edge research in areas of computer science.

Course structure

The 2 year Masters course is studied full-time over two academic years. A total of 120 credits of taught modules are studied in the first academic year. A 60-credit enhanced research project followed by a 60-credit enhanced dissertation are undertaken in the second academic year giving a total course content of 240 credits.
