SBE2023 Sustainable Built Environment Workshop: Energy Applications in Low Carbon Buildings and Sustainable Cities

Recent urbanisation, global warming, and the energy crisis have brought about an increased need for the improvement of outdoor thermal comfort, building energy efficiency, and renewable energy utilisation in urban environments. Considering that more than half of the world's inhabitants live in cities, and the expected continuation of this trend, it is becoming ever more important to study how buildings and urban cities can be better planned to have positive impacts on energy efficiency and occupants' thermal comfort, both indoor and outdoor. It is also imperative that new methods and strategies for applications in buildings and urban regions be developed and implemented in built environments to optimise energy usage and occupant satisfaction. Thus, the focus of SBE2023 would be on showcasing new technologies, methods, and guidelines for application in buildings and urban regions for improving energy efficiency and occupant wellbeing in built environments.

SBE2023 will cover significant topics including, but not limited to:

• Low carbon technology applications and assessment in buildings
• Urban morphology and energy efficiency
• Low energy and low carbon buildings
• Urban morphology and outdoor thermal comfort

The annual workshop of the Sustainable Built Environment Research Group and the Department of Architecture of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, SBE2023, will be held on 10th June 2023, in the picturesque city of Ningbo, China, and will include keynote speeches and roundtable discussions.
