Here at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China, we work very closely with our colleagues at the UK campus. Our research is organised through the below groups, with PhD students co-supervised by academics between both campuses, shared resources and collaborative grants targeting local, national and international funding sources.
The School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, UK was established 30 years ago and is currently a leading centre for computer science research. Our world-leading research engages and solves real-world problems that impact society, the financial sector, and the industry. It involves a shared ethos of "computing in the world". Fundamental advances in computer science are connected to knowledge and methods from other disciplines, to enable deep collaboration with researchers and specialists in diverse sectors.
Artificial Intelligence and Optimisation Research Centre
The Artificial Intelligence and Optimisation (AIOP) research centre promotes multi-disciplinary research in AI and optimization to find practical solutions to real-world problems. We are outward-looking and emphasize collaboration with external institutions and companies. Our research output has a prominent impact on many areas of industry, business, and society. In particular, we have targeted real-world problems in the fields of Transportation, Healthcare, and Finance. AIOP has recently established two labs: the Digital Port Technologies Lab and the In-the-Wild (Human Computer Interaction) Lab. AIOP currently has 25 academics, 1 senior software engineer and over 40 PhD students.
