Study with Fun: Mandarin Learners Practices Chinese Characters via Kites DIY

14 March 2019

14 Mar at PB217, Mandarin leaners of the HSK1 had a memorable class. After month-long rainy days, it finally turned to be sunny. Ms Luchao Wang, the Mandarin teacher of HSK 1, hoped her students could enjoy the nice weather and Mandarin class at the same time. Thus, she brought kites, paints and pens to class, and asked students to paint and write down their newly learnt Chinese words and phrases on the kites.

Though laughing it a kindergarten game, students showed great interests in this. As they just had a lesson about speaking different countries in Chinese, they wrote down their country and painted unique patterns with strong national characteristics on the kites. 11 kites of 11 countries showed a great diversity of UNNC. After the class, students made an appointment to fly the kites together and have fun in the Spring.

In this semester, to stimulate students’ motivation to learn Chinese, Mandarin teachers of NCI Ningbo have planned various activities to enable a study with fun. More activities are worth expecting.
