Three NUBS China Academics are Among the World's Top 2% of Scientists

The recent "World's Top 2% Scientists" list compiled by Stanford University includes over 20 scholars from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Among them, Professor Alain Yee Loong Chong, Professor in Information Systems, and Professor Hing Kai Chan, Professor of Operations Management, from Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China) have been included in the career-long database element, and Dr Yangyang Jiang, Associate Professor in Marketing, also from NUBS China, has been included in the single-year database element.

The academic accomplishments of select scholars at NUBS China span multiple fields, such as Information Systems, Operations Research, and Marketing. Notably, Professors Alain Yee Loong Chong and Hing Kai Chan, frequent inclusions in the "World's Top 2% of Scientists" list, have consistently maintained their presence for three consecutive years, each ranking at the pinnacle of their respective research fields. Additionally, Dr Yangyang Jiang, a young scholar at NUBS China, has made her debut on this prestigious list, further showcasing NUBS China's strength in fostering innovative research among its young academics.

Professor Alain Yee Loong Chong, Dean of Graduate School and Global Engagement, Professor in Information Systems, NUBS China

Professor Alain Yee Loong Chong received his PhD in Information Systems from the University of Nottingham and a PhD in Operations Management from Multimedia University Malaysia. He was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians by Junior Chamber International in 2012. Additionally, as mentioned above, Alain is frequently ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists and Elsevier has named him as one of the most cited scholars in China for eight consecutive years (2015–2022). He was also awarded the prestigious Ningbo Camellia Award (宁波茶花奖) by the Ningbo government in 2020.

Professor Hing Kai Chan, Acting Associate Dean for Education & Student Experience, Professor of Operations Management, NUBS China

Professor Hing Kai Chan received his PhD degree from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. He worked in the electronic manufacturing industry for over 10 years before joining academia. He has published over 250 academic articles, and nine monographs and edited volumes.

Dr Yangyang Jiang, Associate Professor in Marketing, NUBS China

Dr Yangyang Jiang received her PhD degree from Monash Business School, Monash University, Australia. She is the esteemed recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Research Supervisor Award. Her research interests encompass customer experience, services marketing, sustainable development, and digital transformation. Prior to joining academia, Dr Jiang lent her expertise to the Olympic Partner Programme at four Olympic Games.

The World's Top 2% Scientists list is generated based on Scopus, the world-renowned abstract and citation database, using a series of key indicators such as total citations and h-index. Divided into a career-long database element and a single-year database element, the list selects scientists in 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. It objectively reflects the global influence of and contributions to related areas by scientists.
