On 14-16 September, the Bank of China Ningbo Branch 2023 Senior Managers' International Training Programme was successfully held at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). After collaborating with China Construction Bank and the Agricultural Bank of China, UNNC has once again joined hands with state-owned banks to provide intellectual support to expand the international perspective, improve the management capabilities of banking professionals, and promote the international development of state-owned banks.

The training is comprehensive and in-depth, covering key topics such as analysis of China and the global economic and financial situation, innovative finance and inclusive finance, artificial intelligence and the digital transformation of the financial industry, effective leadership and team building, and Bloomberg financial database introduction and practical training. It brings together leading faculty members from Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China), providing an opportunity for all participants to engage in profound learning and contemplation.

"The fast-paced and dynamic environment of the financial sector demands visionary leadership, strategic planning and effective decision-making," explained Thomas Murphy, Chief Financial and Planning Officer of UNNC. He further clarified at the opening ceremony, "This training programme is tailor-made for senior and middle managers in the financial industry, aiming to enhance their ability to lead teams, manage risks and drive organisational development so that they can navigate through the complex and volatile financial industry." Thomas Murphy believes this training programme will provide these managers with the tools needed to address challenges, allowing them to lead their teams to new heights of success.

Professor Kok Wei Khong, Dean of NUBS China, expressed, "The Bank of China with its rich legacy and commitment to excellence seamlessly allies with our ethos." This sentiment was shared by him at the opening ceremony. He also emphasised that NUBS China is committed to creating an innovative, international and interactive learning environment that develops a deep understanding of the global financial landscape, strategic management skills and leadership potential in the participants, enabling them to deal with the complex world of banking and contribute to the success of their organisations.

Despite the limited time available, the participating managers unanimously commented that the training not only broadened their horizons but also improved their overall qualities. They will apply the knowledge and skills learnt to their work and contribute more to the development of the Bank of China Ningbo Branch.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China serves not only as a platform for academic discovery and research, but also as a nexus for international collaboration and professional advancement. As an important part of UNNC, NUBS China has always been in close contact with industry leaders to actively explore the talent needs and management strategies of large enterprises. As of now, NUBS China has collaborated with multiple Fortune Global 500 companies such as Bank of China, CRRC, Samsonite China, BorgWarner, China Construction Bank, and Agricultural Bank of China to empower enterprises to internationalise their layout and development.
