Welcome Professor Michele Geraci back to UNNC

Michele Geraci, former Italian government minister and architect of Italy joining the Belt and Road Initiative, is returning to the Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China) as Professor of Practice in Economic Policy. He will teach a new module on China and the Global Economy in the Autumn Semester.


Michele joined NUBS China in 2012, and in 2018, he was one of the nominees for Italy’s Prime Minister, before taking the role as Undersecretary. Immediately before taking up his role as Undersecretary of Economic Development in Italian Government, Michele Geraci was one of four nominees for Italy’s Prime Minister. He is a frequent guest on major international media and has been awarded an Italian Knighthood by Italian President Mattarella. He holds an MBA from MIT Sloan and speaks five languages including Chinese. 

Michele will teach a new optional module, China and the Global Economy, which is open to all Year 3 students in the Business School. Students can choose this optional module during the Online Course Enrollment period, using a special link to be sent by email.

China and the Global Economy - A new Optional Module taught by Professor Michele Geraci, until recently Undersecretary of State in the Italian Government and the main architect of Italy’s joining the Belt and Road Initiative. The mix of content and the insight that Michele can offer on economic and international relations issues makes this course unique and a rare opportunity for UNNC students.

This course’s objective is to provide students with a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of Chinese's economic structure and trends from both a domestic and an international point of view.  Students will learn how to identify the challenges and how to grasp the many opportunities that China’s dynamic economy and society offer. A significant emphasis will be given to China’s growing role in the international arena, its commercial relationships with Europe, the United States with a new section on the impact of the Corona Virus on the domestic economy and the Global Value Chain.
