UNNC joins hand with Boeing to establish first Boeing aviation club in Zhejiang

May 17: The unveiling ceremony of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China – Boeing Aviation Club took place on the campus of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), establishing a platform for both parties to explore potential further cooperation in the field of aviation talent cultivation and high-tech research and development, help students to have a more comprehensive understanding of the aviation industry and become international innovative talents needed in the aviation field. Following six other top universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University, UNNC becomes the seventh national wide and the first in Zhejiang Province to establish a Boeing aviation club.

Zhefeng Wang, a year three student of Aerospace Engineering and president of the club, as a representative shared that in previous cooperation with Boeing, he participated in various activities such as flight simulator workshop, 3D-printed jet engine assembly and field trip to aviation town, through which he greatly improved his professional capabilities and had a clearer career planning.

Dr Scott Walston, Vice President for Enterprise Technology, Boeing Research and Technology, were highly impressed by UNNC students’ passion and practical skills. He explained that UNNC’s high-quality scientific research and international innovative talent reserve have played a radiating and driving role in neighboring Boeing in Zhoushan, which is a key factor for Boeing to join hands with UNNC, the first Sino-foreign university, and set up an aviation club.

Professor Patrick Chau, Vice Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange at UNNC, also expressed his high expectation in further development of the cooperation in his closing remark on the unveiling ceremony – “to nurture next generation of aviation talent with global mindset, to advance human knowledge with innovation and new discoveries, to solve global challenges and make this world a better place to live.”
