通过新媒体技术使移民融入社会

Dr Amira Halperin’s research aims at leveraging Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to help alleviate the global refugee crisis.

According to Dr Halperin, mobile technologies can support refugees’ capacity building in multiples areas, including the continuity of education, access to financial and health care services, solutions for discrimination problems, and increasing language competency.

Dr Amira Halperin has collaborated with MOSAIC, one of the largest settlement non-profit organisations in Canada to support newcomers’ interaction with information, media and digital technologies. Her book, titled ‘The use of new media by the Palestinian diaspora in the United Kingdom’, has been reviewed as breakthrough research. She is now writing a book focusing on mobile phones and migration, which can offer new perspectives for the research in human mobility and ICTs.
