Professor May Tan-Mullins’s research helps communities alleviate poverty, particularly in a post-disaster context. In one of her projects, she worked with affected communities in the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda to rebuild their livelihoods through resilience strategies. She co-published a book using the case study of Typhoon Yolanda, titled Urban Poverty in the Wake of Environmental Disaster, to draw out policy recommendations for other middle- and lower-income countries facing similar urban environmental challenges.
