Centre for Sustainable Manufacturing
Established in 2009, UNNC’s Centre of Sustainable Manufacturing serves as a hub for academic and industrial exchange in green technology, road-mapping and talent development in sustainable manufacturing. The Centre puts significant emphasis on engaging with businesses and formulate industrial partnerships. Joint applied research and technology transfer are identified as the Centre’s focused activities to attract government support and public/private funding.
A showcase is the recent award of substantial amount of funding from the local government to support the Centre’s research in green automobile components. Expected research outcome include a dozen of patents and publications as well as the nurturing of more than 20 PhD students.
The Centre also shelters the Sino-UK Low Carbon Consortium. The Sino-UK Low Carbon Manufacturing Consortium (Sino-UK LCMC), is a multi-disciplinary research and educational partnership between academia, industry and government agencies in the UK and China with interest in sustainable manufacturing issues. Our vision is stated as: to create, develop and implement new innovative technologies, systems and decision support tools that enable industry to increase its competiveness, productivity, ability to capture new business opportunities and to achieve sustainable operations.
