2019 is the year of re-accreditation. We have received the panel visits for 8 undergraduate programmes from 6 international accreditation bodies.
They are the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Joint Board of Moderators (The Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers) (JBM), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), and Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3). It is also a major milestone for the Faculty of Science and Engineering, validating the high quality of education offered at UNNC.
All the Engineering programmes at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China are set up and taught in line with the standard of The University of Nottingham in the UK, delivering research-led and project-based teaching, emphasising critical thinking, creativities and practical skills to meet the needs of industries and fostering talents into future engineers.
Visiting panels of international institutions were deeply impressed by the dedication of the staff at UNNC to delivering a high standard of British education in China, as well as the high quality of UNNC graduates. The panels strongly commended UNNC staff for the excellent support given to students and acknowledged the high-quality laboratory facilities on site provide an excellent learning environment which is recognised and appreciated by the students.
Licensed by the Engineering Council UK, these international accreditation bodies provide accreditation of academic programmes from universities and colleges that drive young engineers toward professional registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
The accreditation also means that other countries that are signatories to international accords will recognise the UNNC qualification as substantially equivalent to those running in their jurisdiction. Getting an accredited degree gives UNNC graduates a competitive advantage with many employers.
Professor Tao Wu, the Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering, emphasized that the successful accreditation of all Engineering programmes (except for the newly launched Aerospace Engineering programme) not only showcased the teaching quality of our world class STEM education. It is also a witness of our staff and students’ achievement in the past ten years. We sincerely hope every graduate could leave equipped with the cutting-edge knowledge and transferable skills, upon which to build their future careers.
