Composites Group

The Composites Group is a vibrant research team with expertise focuses toward the science and engineering of polymer composite materials, with a close alignment with the UNNC’s advanced material and manufacturing research theme. The group involves in multidisciplinary projects, which include advanced polymer composite manufacturing and design, biomaterials, multifunctional advanced composites, textile modelling, 3D printing, polymer composite recycling and reuse. The group also works actively with both Nottingham New Material Institute (NMI) and Ningbo Nottingham International Academy for the Marine Economy and Technology (IAMET) in several collaborative projects to develop new composite materials and applications for aerospace, automotive, marine/shipbuilding and biomedical industries.

The group works closely with local, national and international project partners, such as AVIC Composite Corporation Ltd, Sinoma Co.,Ltd, ARKEMA(France) and Technical Fibre Products (UK). The group also provides composite materials related services for external enterprises, such as products R&D and talent training as well as potential student internships to the enterprises. The Composites Group aims to work with industry together to promote commercialization of scientific research.
