Research Achievements and Activities
Utilising our continuously improving research facilities the AMG has been trying to address challenging scientific and engineering problems related to manufacturing processes.
Some examples of such research achievements/activities are given below:
Develop novel models and tools for cutting of organic materials (i.e. bone) to enable reduction of surface damage and accelerate patient recovery after surgical interventions
Develop the first models for 2D/3D temperature mapping prediction in grinding considering stochastically discretised grains that open the avenue to further propose advanced grinding tools with reduced heat generation
Understanding the influence of operating parameters of thermal spraying upon the quality and integrity of thermally sprayed coatings to enable the improvement lifing of high quality parts
Development of indirect mechanical methods for evaluation of ductile-to-brittle transition and creep behaviour in thermally sprayed coatings
Innovative design and modelling of robotic platforms able to access in-situ complex industrial environments and perform machining operations as high degree of accuracy
Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of Glass Fibre Dispersion in an Internally Spout-Fluidised Bed for Thermoplastic Composite Processing
Numerical simulations of fluid dynamics and mixing in a large shallow bubble column: effects of the sparging pipe allocations for multiple-pipe gas distributors
Material characterization and finite element modelling of cyclic plasticity behavior for 304 stainless steel using a crystal plasticity model
