Introduction

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a transformative leap in the digital landscape, marking an era where everything from household appliances to industrial equipment is interconnected and intelligent. Rapidly advancing, this revolutionary technology reshapes our interaction with the world, positioning IoT at the forefront of technological innovation, driving efficiencies, enhancing user experiences, and opening unprecedented opportunities for businesses and consumers.

In today's world, the relevance of IoT is paramount, playing a crucial role in smart city development, healthcare improvements, and enhanced security systems, among many other areas. The integration of IoT devices and systems into daily life leads to smarter, more responsive environments that adapt to human needs, offering significant improvements in energy efficiency, resource management, and convenience. Looking towards the future, the potential of IoT is boundless, with the advent of 5G networks (and the future 6G) and advancements in AI, promising not only to enhance the efficiency and functionality of existing systems but also to spur the innovation of new applications that could transform every aspect of our lives.

In light of these exciting advancements and the bright future of IoT, it is with great anticipation that the University of Nottingham Ningbo China will organise the International Conference on Internet of Things (ICIoT 2024). The conference is scheduled for the 11th and 12th of October 2024 at the beautiful city of Ningbo, China. Themed "Everything Connected: Forging a Smarter World with IoT," ICIoT 2024 is set to be a landmark event. Organised by the Next-Generation Internet of Everything Laboratory (NGIoE), Faculty of Science and Engineering, at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and supported by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the conference will gather the world's leading academics, researchers, and industry professionals in the IoT field.
