The ranking was prepared by Stanford University and Elsevier BV, a world-leading academic publisher of scientific and technical journals. The list was devised in the Stanford-Elsevier report by analysing a peer-reviewed academic papers database of over 100,000 top scientists selected from nearly 7 million scientists around the world.

The scientists were classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields and were then ranked based upon the following criteria: citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator, including career-long and single year impact.

UNNC extends our congratulations to all of our staff who were listed in the rankings, including Patrick Chau, Alain Yee Loong Chong, Antony Paulraj, Hing Kai Chan, Guang Zhu, Nabil Gindy (deceased), James C. Greer, Xiaosu Yi, Giampaolo Buticchi and Michael Galea.

They were able to break into the rankings of a number of research fields, such as information systems, industrial engineering, business and management, nanotechnology, applied physics, materials, electric engineering, and operations research.

Out of the 10 UNNC academics listed in the rankings, Professor Patrick Chau, Vice Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange, and Professor Alain Yee Loong Chong, Dean of Graduate School and Global Engagement, are both ranked worldwide in the top 100 in the information systems discipline. Within China, they are ranked in 1st place and 3rd place respectively. In the field of Business and Management, Professor Antony Paulraj ranked 5th in China. In the field of industrial engineering, Professor Hing Kai Chan ranked 11th in China.

These global rankings demonstrate the high academic standards of our staff as well as the university’s influence across multiple disciplines and signify our dedication to producing world-class research. In the future, UNNC will continue to integrate its advantageous research resources at home and abroad and support our talented academics in pushing the boundaries of knowledge and delivering world-leading research to solve today’s global challenges.
