On November 2^nd and 3^rd, Teachers from the Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch attended the Mandarin teaching and development programme at Yutong Hotel, Guangzhou, which is organized by the Chinese Testing International Co.,Ltd.

Prof. Yongyi Wu, from the East China Normal University and Miss Wenhong Zhu, from the Independent Schools Foundation Academy Hong Kong led the two-day training. Prof. Wu encouraged critical thinking for both teaching and research academically by talking about the challenges and development of TCFL, the professional development for Mandarin teachers and his research on the Chinese textbook compilation in the context of Chinese as a foreign language. Miss Zhu shared her experience of how to help younger students make thinking visible in her Chinese teaching practice.

This is the second training programme for NCI team this year. We appreciated the opportunities of learning from and communicating with peer colleagues from different backgrounds. We would definitely adopt some of the excellent ideas into our teaching practice.
