Sunday 14 Mar, Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch and the Department of Campus Life jointly organized a tour to Hengjie town in Ningbo, which is known for its well-protected bamboo forest. 32 Mandarin learners and staff spent a nice day together.

After an hour’s drive, the team arrived at the destination -- Zhe Dong Da Zhu Hai (The Bamboo Forest in East Zhejiang). Talked with local people, the international visitors tried to dig up bamboo shoots, which they had never done before. Sore and fatigue, the hard work in the field brought them harvest and fulfillment. Afterwards, the participants enjoyed a barbecue buffet and entertaining photo taking.

As a part of UNNC ‘living in China’ program, CI and DCL aimed to enable more international students and staff to experience a vivid China.
