Chinese Painting Class by Mr Li

To enrich UNNC campus life and promote the understanding of traditional Chinese painting, on 4 September, a public lecture of Traditional Chinese Painting was held at UNNC IAMET312, co-organized by the Painting and Calligraphy Academy of Overseas Chinese Bureau, Li Qingyu Studio and Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch. 34 students and staff took part in the lecture.

The teacher Mr Li Qingyu has more than 50 years professional experience and specializes in Beauty Painting. His paintings have been displayed in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and other places. Currently Mr. Li is the national level artists, the member of Chinese Painter and Calligrapher Council, the academician of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Institute, the signatory painter of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Network TV, the painter of Beijing Shili River Art Academy, the member of Zhejiang Overseas Chinese Painting Creation Committee, the vice president of Ningbo Lingshan Painting and Calligraphy Academy, the teacher of Ningbo University for the elderly.

Before the lecture began, the beauty, landscape and the galloping horse painted by Mr. Li had already won praises from staff and students. In the lecture, Mr. Li introduced the painting tools, the history of Chinese painting and painting skills in a comprehensible way. Then, He coached participants how to draw a goldfish. Goldfish’s body, tail, eyes and mouth were drawn with different lines.  When the participants started to paint, Mr. Li guided them one by one.

Finally, Mr. Li drew plum flowers, lotus, and a beauty of Tang dynasty by popular demand. Everyone marveled at Mr. Li’s painting skill. In the 2020 fall semester, Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch will continue to organize public painting courses and invite Mr. Li to teach.
