Biography

Ahmed holds first class BEng (Hons) from Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST). Upon graduation Ahmed worked for SUST as Teaching Assistant. He then moved to industry to work for White Nile Petroleum Operating Company as Construction Engineer (field base) for almost three years. In 2008, Ahmed joined the MSc programme at The University of Nottingham which he completed with distinction. He was then awarded the Dean of Engineering Research Scholarship for International Excellence to pursue his PhD at The University of Nottingham. During his PhD, Ahmed was heavily involved in civil engineering labs and tutorials demonstration.

Ahmed joined The University of Nottingham Ningbo China in 2014 and has been contributing to the teaching and research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering since then. Ahmed was awarded the Faculty’s Top Students Evaluation of Teaching Award in 17/18 academic year.

Ahmed completed Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and he is currently a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK.

Ahmed has research interest in structural engineering focusing in:

  • Blind Bolted connections
  • Numerical Modelling of steel connections
  • Structural analysis and design using computers
