- Architecture course gains RIBA unconditional validation
Architecture courses offered by the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) have received unconditional validation for Part 1 from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Education Committee.
BArch (hons) Architecture (Architecture and Built Environment) and BEng (hons) Architecture have been given the validation by the prestigious professional body after a two-day site visit in October that assessed the course, staffing, research and facilities. A meeting on February 11th 2015, confirmed the validation.
The RIBA visiting board commended 'the ambition and potential of UNNC’s Department of Architecture and Built Environment to develop an environment for staff and students to bring together cultural, technological and environmental understanding of international architectural influences and apply them in a Chinese context' together with the 'engagement of the industry panel to discuss and advise curriculum developments within the School.'
- The Architectural Engineering course becomes first to be accredited by CIBSE
The Architectural Engineering course at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China has become the first in Eastern China to be accredited by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). Accreditation is the mark of assurance that the BEng degree programme meets the high standards set by the engineering profession and the UK industry regulator, the Engineering Council. It also means that other countries that are signatories to international accords will recognise the UNNC qualification as substantially equivalent to those running in their jurisdiction.
The accredited degree is the first step towards professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng); giving UNNC graduates a competitive advantage with many employers. In the rest of China, only one university in the west has gained the same accreditation.
