Team China achieves 1st runner-up of Games
29th June saw the closing of 2018 Tri-Campus Games taking place at the University of Nottingham UK Campus. Team China finished in 2nd place, with Team Malaysia taking the title and Team UK as the second runner-up. Only one point separated each of the teams, making this year’s Tri-campus Games the closest one on record.
Each year the Tri-Campus Games brings together students from the University of Nottingham UK, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, and the University of Nottingham Malaysia to compete against each other in a range of up to 20 specialist sports and campus-team challenges.
The Games is particularly special this year as it celebrates its 10th Anniversary. 180 athletes joined this sport festival and Team China flew out 64 staff and students to represent against UK and Malaysia.
Sarah Humphreys, Director of Sport and Physical Education said: “The Tri-Campus Games is an amazing opportunity for our students to compete against the UK and Malaysian campuses in a week of sporting fixtures and cultural activities, embracing the global reach and diversity that the University of Nottingham has. The fact that there was only three points between all three campuses at the end of the week, shows how close the competition was this year and also how hard the students worked to win the trophy for their respective campus. Next year, Team China is setting the goal of winning back the trophy from Malaysia on their home soil!”
