‘2+3’ combined MSc and PhD programme between Zhejiang University and UNNC

Applications are invited to undertake postgraduate research for MSc students at Zhejiang University. These students will complete a 2 years MSc course in Department of Information Product Design at Zhejiang University. During their final year of the MSc programme, they will spend 9 months at UNNC as visiting students to work on their MSc research projects with UNNC faculty members. Upon successful completion of their MSc with Zhejiang University and meeting the qualification of the postgraduate program entrance requirements of UNNC, students will be accepted into UNNC’s PhD programme.

The available PhD scholarships cover:

  • 1 year tuition fee (Year 3 of the PhD study)
  • All regulations set out in the UNNC PGR Scholarship Policy apply
  • All the target students have the right to apply for the full scholarship provided by UNNC including tuition fees and monthly stipend for three years. 

In addition to the above scholarship, successful candidates also have the opportunity to carry out paid teaching (after complete Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) training) or research assistant duties at UNNC since second year.

  1. Human computer interaction
  2. Usability engineering
  3. Design innovation
  4. Information behaviour and management

PhD programme structure

PhD programmes at the UNNC are composed of 3 years research and submission is expected within 3 years for full-time students. PhD supervision is undertaken jointly by academics from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) and the University of Nottingham UK (UNUK). On successful completion, students will be awarded the University of Nottingham PhD degree, and no reference will be made on the degree certificate as to where the degree has been completed. The University of Nottingham PhD degree will be accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

Eligibility

  • Applications are invited to undertake postgraduate research for MSc students at Zhejiang University. These students will complete a 2 years MSc course in Department of Information Product Design at Zhejiang University. During their final year of the MSc programme, they will spend 9 months at UNNC as visiting students to work on their MSc research projects with UNNC faculty members. Upon successful completion of their MSc with Zhejiang University and meeting the qualification of the postgraduate program entrance requirements of UNNC, students will be accepted into UNNC’s PhD programme.
  • Applicants must meet the required English language proficiency for the relevant subject area. IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all elements) or its equivalent is required for Faculty of Science and Engineering (FoSE) scholarship applicants.

How to apply

Please email scanned copies of the following documents to PHDadmissions@nottingham.edu.cn by 16:00 (China time) on specified closing date (pls add the link). All documents must be in English. If original documents are not in English, a translated English version is required in addition to the original one. An application missing any of the following document (except for English language score) is incomplete and won’t be considered. 

No separate application is required for applying for a scholarship but please make sure you quote the scholarship reference number in your PhD application form.
