Prof. Zhang Wei and Dr. Shixin Ivy Zhang will jointly hold a talk with students from IC for two hours. This talk is Q&A based. In the past few years, students from IC haven showed great interests in pursuing a MA degree in journalism studies and some planned to become a journalist after completing their studies at the university. This joint talk is meant to address students’ concerns about the profession of journalism, opportunities and challenges, what is like doing journalism in China, the career path for a journalism student, and the trend of journalism profession in China.
About the speakers
Professor Zhang Wei is a journalism professor of Cheung Kong school of Journalism and director of Australian Studies Centre at Shantou University. He is the winners of Australian-China Council Book Prize in 2004, 2010 and 2014, for the books of The Media in Australia, The History of Australian Chinese and W.H.Donald Files: the Adventure of An Australian in Modern China
Shixin Ivy Zhang, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in Journalism Studies at the School of International Communications, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Her research focuses on journalism studies, newsroom convergence, media management, and media globalization. She published her first research monograph entitled Impact of Globalization on the Local Press in China in 2014.
