Being Entrepreneurial

The Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China) is very pleased to invite you to the following seminar given by Chris Lloyd.

About the Topic:

Entrepreneurs form deep bonds with their ventures. Effective entrepreneurs are persistent, problem-solving, and absorbed in what they do. In his talk, Chris will reflect on his experiences, on success, on failure, and on what he looks for in young would-be entrepreneurs.

About the Lecturer:

Chris Lloyd has built and run a number of successful consultancy businesses in management, engineering and technical training. He is Group Managing Director of CAS, a management consultancy headquartered in London which advises government, business and investors.  He is Chairman of AMCL which operates internationally from London and Sydney. He is Chairman of Vertex Systems Engineering which serves clients in the UK rail industry. He is a Director of the Asset Management Academy which delivers training leading to professional qualifications in asset management and has a worldwide client base. He is also Chair of the London Reuse Ltd, a leading social enterprise in the waste management sector.

Over the last 25 years, he has advised clients in diverse industries including rail, highways, construction, ports, waste, aviation and utilities. Clients include: Brookfield ($ 100bn of assets under management), China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Serco, Ferrovial, Highways Agency, London Underground, Network Rail, Euroports, National Grid, UK Office of Rail Regulation, UK Department for Transport, European Commission and the UK Health & Safety Executive.

Chris is well known for his bestselling books on asset management: Asset management: whole life management of physical assets (Thomas Telford, 2012) and International case studies in asset management (ICE Publishing 2012). He speaks regularly at international conferences and plays a leading role in the Institute of Asset Management.

Cheng is a Director of CAS China Limited having joined the CAS London office in 2011. He advises infrastructure funds and businesses on improving asset management competency. He is also a Director of Arete which provides training and mentorship to high-calibre Chinese students intending to study or work abroad.

Prior to this, Cheng was a corporate finance professional at KPMG Advisory Shanghai office. He specialised in financial due diligence, financial analysis valuation and modelling in the context of initial public offerings, mergers & acquisitions, and reorganisation.

Cheng is one of the first graduates from the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China. He is the founder of Weaver Organisation and led various other successful student initiatives and societies during his time at UNNC.

Cheng holds a MSc in Finance from London Business School, one of the most prestigious business schools in the world. He is a London Business School interviewer. He is also a U.S. Certified Management Accountant.
