Biography

I received my B.A. in English Language and Culture from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, M.Sc. in Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition from Carnegie Mellon University. I was Assistant Professor at The Chinese University of Hong Kong before joining The University of Nottingham Ningbo China. My research is in applied linguistics, with specializations in computer-assisted language learning, Chinese-English bilingual literacy development, and corpus linguistics and quantitative linguistics. The topics I have been working with typically reflect the interplay of linguistics and cognitive theories and the complexity of language learning phenomena.

Research Interest

My broad research interests cover second language acquisition and pedagogy. My specific interests include interdisciplinary research on personalized computer-assisted second language skills training, quantitative and qualitative learner corpora analysis, and bilingual literacy development in heritage language learners.
