UNNC Delegation Visits Ningbo Social Sciences Academy (NBSSA)

On 16th September, a UNNC delegation visited Ningbo Social Sciences Academy to explore more funding opportunities and collaboration in areas of Humanities and Social Sciences. The delegation was led by Professor Martin Liu, the Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange in Faculty of Business and Associate Professor Celia Lam, the Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange in Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, accompanied by staff from Research and Knowledge Exchange Office.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Mingrong Tong, the Deputy Director and Vice Chairman of the Academy, Mr. Guoguang Xie, Head of the Research Office, together with some staff from relevant offices. Professor Martin Liu and Associate Professor Celia Lam gave an overview of research strengths, activities, outcomes and the international collaboration and exchange of each Faculty respectively. Ms. Ada Qian, Deputy Director of Research, outlined UNNC’s preparations for the upcoming 5th round of applications to the Ningbo Philosophy and Social Science Research Base programme.

Mr. Tong provided constructive suggestions on the goals, direction and research projects that UNNC can develop by taking advantage of UNNC’s international strengths. Highlighting UNNC’s unique characteristics and viewpoints, Mr. Tong welcomed further contribution from the University on policy development and decision making processes in Ningbo. Mr. Xie advised the delegation on best practice approaches to compiling the proposal, and provided an overview of the review process. The two parties also discussed detailed application procedures and further plans for collaboration.
