Yi was Lecturer of Tourism at Sheffield Hallam University (UK) for four years prior to joining the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Her research focuses on tourism policy-making, cultural tourism interpretation, and sustainable tourism planning. She received her PhD in Sheffield Hallam University in the area of “Tourism Policy Networks and Tourism Development in China” and is awarded “Overseas Research Scholarship” by the Higher Education Funding Council of Britain. She has published widely in the area of rural tourism, family travel as well as social networks.
