Meet us at international student fairs

Want to find out more about studying for a UK degree at a top British university with a campus in China? Then, don’t miss the international student fair in your area.  Full story below…

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) is visiting Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mauritius, Russia, Taiwan and Thailand in early 2012.

Our Recruitment and Admissions team will provide information and advice to prospective students about all our degree programmes and possible future career paths and tell you all you need to know about qualifying and applying for entry to our unique university.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China|, which opened its doors as China’s first Sino-foreign university with full approval from the authorities in 2004, is conveniently located in the flourishing east coast city of Ningbo, in the province of Zhejiang.

Ningbo, one of China’s most attractive and less-expensive cities, is just a few hours by road or train from Shanghai and its international airport has connections to major cities in China and elsewhere in Asia.

The University has more than 5,000 students. It expects this number to grow rapidly as it expands its range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes ‒ particularly in science and engineering disciplines ‒ to cater for demand for certain categories of professionals in commerce and industry.

Its business school, a branch of the prestigious Nottingham University Business School|, is expecting to attract a growing number of international students who are looking to reap the benefits of studying for a UK business degree from the vantage point of the world’s most exciting economy.

Also appealing to many students are the University’s international communications| programmes, which provide opportunities to develop skills for careers in the media and related industries as well as learn a range of European and Asian languages.

All courses are delivered in English at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China, so students must provide evidence of a minimum level of English language proficiency in order to qualify for entry to degree programmes.

Students whose first language is not English or whose qualifications were not obtained in an English-medium education system spend their first year honing their English language reading, writing and presentation skills under the guidance of a dedicated tutor.

The University will run an intensive English language programme| during the summer vacation to help students who narrowly miss the minimum English language entry requirements to improve their written and verbal skills by the start of the academic year, in September 2012.

Marina Chen, Recruitment and Admissions Director at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China, said: “Our international student population is growing quickly. Studying for a UK degree at a university in China is a highly attractive proposition for students from Asia, Russia and elsewhere.

“There are tremendous career opportunities for our graduates because they have unrivalled insights into the culture and workings of China, an important trading partner for most countries,” she said.

“A British education is regarded as a high-quality education, so our graduates have a huge competitive advantage when they embark on their careers,” said Chen.

The University of Nottingham’s students have many opportunities to spend part of their degree programmes in other countries.

Students on several degree programmes at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China have the option of spending their first two years at the Ningbo, China campus and the second two years at The University of Nottingham’s campuses in the UK or Malaysia.

The University also facilitates student exchanges with other universities around the world.

“Studying for a University of Nottingham degree no longer means you have to live in Nottingham, UK. You can complete some or all of your course modules in China and graduate with a Nottingham, UK, degree,” noted Chen.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China’s fees are in line with UK levels, however living costs are generally lower in China, making it a highly attractive option for students who want to carefully manage their finances while enjoying a comfortable lifestyle, she added.
