International summer school 2017
Based at our award-winning campus in China, the Summer School will give you the chance to study a new subject overseas while learning about a different culture first-hand.
There are three programmes to choose from, each lasting two weeks. Each programme is made up of taught lessons and cultural visits.
The Summer School will last two or three weeks depending on your selection. Students can choose one of the three courses or choose two courses by combining ‘Mandarin for Work’ either with ‘Doing Business in China’ or with ‘Understanding the Rise of China’. Each course is worth 10 UNNC credits*.
* Transfer of credits is subject to the approval of the student’s home institution.

The opportunity to travel and experience China is a remarkable one. No other country has as much variety, depth and history. As part of our Summer Schools we include a number of trips that will provide you with a fantastic chance to explore this amazing country at a time of rapid change.
The financial heart of China: Shanghai
There will be a trip to Shanghai during the middle weekend, leaving on Saturday morning, giving you two days to experience the delights of this amazing city. Visits and tours will be carefully chosen to relate to the academic themes of the courses on offer in the Summer School.
The beauty of Hangzhou
As one of the most renowned and prosperous cities in China for the last 1,000 years, Hangzhou is set in beautiful scenery and is full of historical relics. You will be able to visit some of the city’s most popular sites including the lovely West Lake.
Please note: Shanghai and Hangzhou trips are optional at your own expense. It will cost 800RMB including accommodation for the Shanghai trip and 300RMB for Hanghzhou trip. Alternatively you may use the free time allocated to visit areas independently, at your own expense.
Apart from trips, cultural activities such as calligraphy, Chinese painting, and Taiji will also be offered to interested students.

Free airport pickup service will be available in both Ningbo and Shanghai Pudong Airport on 17 June if you inform us of your travel arrangement in advance.
No formal academic requirements are necessary. All the programmes are delivered in English and students are expected to have good English language ability of overall IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with no less than 5.5 in any element, or equivalent. Anyone fulfilling these entry requirements is eligible to apply, including undergraduates, postgraduates, academics and those in employment in any industry, anywhere in the world. Students must be aged 18 or over.

The course fee is 5000RMB for one course and 8000RMB for two courses. A discount of 1000RMB is available for students from any Universitas 21 and UNNC partner institutions (including the University of Nottingham UK and Malaysia Campus).

- Travel between your home country and China, domestic travel
- Visa & insurance
- Accommodation & food

Early bird discount
A 10% discount off the course fee is available for students who apply and pay the full fees by 31 March 2017.
You will have the option of living in university-arranged accommodation. The on-campus accommodation are fully furnished, four-room flats. Each flat has four private bedrooms, two toilets, one shower room, one washing room and a common room. The common rooms in these flats are equipped with a fridge, TV set and a few cooking appliances. The accommodation fee is a fixed price of 1400RMB for the duration of the two weeks and 2100RMB for the three weeks.

Once students are formally accepted for the International Summer School, the Summer School team will issue an invitation letter for each student. It is advised that student apply for a F visa to China. Detail information on how to apply for a F visa please consult your local Chinese embassy.
