MSc Communication and International Entrepreneurship

This MSc is studied full-time over one academic year. A total of 120 credits of taught modules are studied in the Autumn and Spring semesters. In addition, a research project worth 60 credits is undertaken in the Summer Period, providing a total course content of 180 credits. It should be noted that projects will be run in collaboration between the Division of English and the Business School, with students being supervised by staff from both faculties.

Educational aims of the course: 

  • Introduce students to the multidisciplinary dimensions of professional, discourse-based, communication studies and entrepreneurship
  • Introduce students to a range of discourse-based frameworks for assessing effective communication
  • Provide students with the skills to interrogate various sites of professional communication
  • Provide students with the knowledge of business planning entrepreneurship
  • Provide students with the skills to explore various business models for commercial exploitation of technical intellectual property
  • Develop a sound business strategy
  • Understand the importance of markets and market analysis
  • Develop an ability to carry out financial analysis of a business
  • Understand disruptive market technologies

 

Admission Requirements

Entrants would normally be expected to hold an upper second class honours degree or international equivalent.

Applicants whose first language is not English, and who do not have a degree from a UK institution, will be required to produce evidence of their competence in English, possessing one of the following test results:

IELTS Requirements  7.0 (with no less than 6.0 in any element)

TOEFL paper based: 600 with 4.5 in TWE

TOEFL Computer Based Requirements 250 with a TWE of 5.0

TOEFL IBT: 100 (no less than 19 in any element)
