Our campus

The University is in the Yinzhou district of Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on China’s prosperous east coast.

Our 144 acre (584,666m²) secure campus is located in the Ningbo Higher Education Park and features many attractive spaces, including Chinese and English gardens symbolising the partnership behind our success.

Lush planting, rivers and lakes attract many different types of birds and wildlife and we have our own version of The University of Nottingham's Trent Building, complete with clock tower.

Our signature Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies (CSET) was the first zero-carbon building in China and emphasises our focus on environmental sustainability in our research and practice.

Most of our students live in halls of residence on campus, which are situated on a convenient high street that has a range of shops, restaurants, an ATM and spaces for recreation. It also has a 24-hour medical centre with English-speaking staff, a post office and dry cleaners.

International staff also have the option of living on-campus and we have a staff hotel to accommodate visiting lecturers and delegates to conferences and seminars.

We have on-campus sports facilities, as well as restaurants and cafeterias that sell Chinese and Western-style food, as well as halal cuisine.

Getting into the centre of Ningbo is easy with the multiple bus routes that pass by our campus. A single bus journey to Tianyi Square, in the heart of Ningbo, will cost just two CNY and take about 45 minutes.

A thriving port and business city, Ningbo is well located for Shanghai, with high-speed rail links connecting to the two cities in around two hours.
